Scout Progress Award

Second Class

Boy Scouting provides a series of surmountable obstacles and steps in overcoming them through the advancement method. The Boy Scout plans his advancement and progresses at his own pace as he meets each challenge. The Boy Scout is rewarded for each achievement, which helps him gain self-confidence. The steps in the advancement system help a Boy Scout grow in self-reliance and in the ability to help others.

Troop 98 follows the advancement requirements in official "THE BOY SCOUT HANDBOOK".

The six progress awards above are steps toward the Eagle Scout Award. The troop provides a program which encourages a Scout to earn Scout through First Class in his first year in the troop.

The progress awards represent a Scout personal achievement toward the Eagle Scout Award. The progress awards are not rank awards. The concept of rank as in the military services is not applicable to Scouting.

The troop provides opportunities for leadership, service projects, summer Scout camp, and earning merit badges which are required for progress from First Class to Eagle.

Over the last 25 years, over 10% of the boys who joined the troop have received the Eagle Scout Award which is the highest rank in Scouting.
